Requests for Cards For Locked Up Lambs....

Aloha and Thank You for stopping by!! Ali n' I are taking a break from the Fun Cut Challenge this week, we had too much turkey to eat, and haven't been able to recuperate just yet, LOL!!

Well remember a couple of months ago, I mentioned about making cards for Locked up Lambs? These Locked up Lambs are young kids, as young as 12 years old to 18 years old, that are in a Juvenile home on this island. My brother and sister in Christ that runs this ministry has asked us to create some Christmas cards for these precious children. We thought that it would be awesome if you wanted to participate as well. Sending a Christ-mas card of encouragement to one of them would be such a blessing!! There is a Girl Scouts group making Christ-mas cards for them also. We’re looking to give each locked up lamb, a minimum of two Christ-mas cards, one from a Girl Scout and one or more from the Prayer Team. If you would like to participate, please adhere to these guidelines:

1. Sign the card with your first name ONLY. We want to keep your personal information
confidential.
2. Don’t put anything in the card (stickers, gift cards, candy, etc…). We want to make sure no
one gets more than someone else.

You can mail the card(s) to: All Things Possible Ministries, Hawaii PO Box 89-4607 Mililani, HI 96789.

Please post mark the card(s) before December 17th so we can ensure receipt of the card(s) to distribute. We will redact your return address.

Thank You in advance for your thoughtfulness and consideration. We pray that you have a great week in the Lord. God Bless!!!

Aloha,
Jen n' Ali

Homemade Acid Wash Jeans n' Jacket and 80's Buttons

Hooty-Hoo!! Hello to you... this past October, our Youth Group at church held a "Back to 80's" Fun Night. Our 15 yr old, CY4, approached us for help in dressing up for this event. My Hubby, CY3, was ECSTATIC to help him out, because he was a child of the 80's and LOVED the way we dressed back then. I had no clue, so I was on stand by and would be "on call" if he needed me to do or make anything. We headed out to our local thrift store, and picked up a Jean and a Jean-Jacket. CY3 knew exactly what CY4 was going to wear, and what they were going to do to make those clothing into 80 styled outfits. He wanted to make them into Acid Wash Jeans!! All they needed to do was sprinkle a bunch of Clorox unto the Jeans material. If you want to do this, please do this in an open area. We did it in front of our garage. Here are a couple of photos with CY3 and CY4 pouring Clorox on the Jeans and Jean-Jacket:

You can already see in the photos how the material is already losing the dye colors, and being bleached. It was a neat process for CY4 to watch. After it was done, we washed it twice without detergent, and then hung dried. This is how they turned out looking afterwards:

As you can see, the colors of each clothing were really bleached out by the Clorox. :) Here is my CY4 all decked out for the evening....

Oooh!!! That's right, see all the buttons that are on his jacket?? Well, CY3 needed me afterall to create those 80's buttons. I just googled "80's Buttons" in the search engine, and found a bunch of these. I printed them out on white cardstock, laminated, and adhered a pin backing to each. They were pretty fun to make, and turned out sooooo cool!!!

Thanks for taking some time out of your day and spending it here with me on our blog. Hope you've enjoyed this post!!

Aloha,
Jen

Cricut Fun Challenge #2 - Paper Doll Dress Up with FREEBIE!!

Welcome to our Cricut Fun Challenge #2!!! We are on a roll!! Ali n' I are having so much fun challenging ourselves, and we hope that it is motivating you as well to create with your Cricut. We had no participants from last week's challenge, but it's ok... we hope you will jump in whenever you are ready.

We've decided to chose a random cartridge, and give the option to select ANY cut from that cartridge to use. Thus allowing a wider selection for us to create from. We are still in the process of trying to figure out what type of challenge we would like this to be. So please bare with us, as we continue to make changes. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to comment and let us hear your idea(s). In the meantime, the Cricut cart selected for this week's challenge is:

Paper Doll Dress Up

Here are our samples - please scroll down to read the rules of this challenge....

By Jen....

Hi Gang! Jen here.... I decided to go with the Horse cut on this cartridge. It's so cute, but has only 1 layer. So what I did was, I cut the image 3 times, on 3 different colored cardstock, and then cut the pieces off manually so that they would have different layers. This card would be perfect for those that love horses, and is celebrating some kinda love occasion.... Anniversary, Wedding or just to saying "I Love U!". I created the heart card on the Design Studio and have the cut file available for you to download at the bottom of this post. I tried saving it as a Gypsy file, but it wasn't cooperating with me. So for now, I only have the Design Studio cut file available.

By Ali:

Hi there everyone! Here is the card I created with the PDDU cartridge. It was super easy and I had a great time making it. The Shell base was just two shells cut out and glued together. My fish, like Jen's was a single layer cut so I also cut it twice and then manually pieced it together. Everything was cut from the PDDU cartridge except the Happy Birthday tag which I cut from the Storybook cartridge.

Rules are as follows:
  1. Create your project using any cut from the cartridge shown above.
  2. Post your project to the web, and link below using the "inlinkz" button.
  3. No linking to project(s) posted prior to this challenge date.
  4. Submit only 1 project please.
  5. Feel free to combine challenges.
  6. Please link your project by next Monday, 6 pm Hawaii Time
Since no one played along last week, the prize for this week's challenge will be what we were giving for last week's challenge. :o)

Thinking of You Mermaid and Macro Image of Hibiscus

Hi Everyone!! Thanks for stopping by... CY4 (my 15 yr old) has come down with the flu. Booo Hoooo!!! But we are praying for a quick recovery and looks like the Lord is once again coming through. He is getting better, after only 2 days of being home. I took him to the doctor yesterday, and was happy to hear that he didn't have Strep Throat. It's going around his school, and that would be bad if he brought it home. I don't like being sick, and I haven't been sick for the last 5 months. Praise God!!!! I just want to continue to NOT be sick, and keep that strain away!! LOL... Well, if he isn't feeling better, I will keep him home again. He's trying to keep up with school by doing his homework, and making sure that he is on top of things. Such an over achiever - gets it from his dad! :o) At the doctor's office, we were offered Flu shots. So he n' I got them. This coming Saturday will be the lil' guy's turn to get it. He's not quite happy about that.

Anyways, that is pretty much the excitement going on in our household right now... other than that.... I have a card project to share with you. I purchased a whole bunch of cool stamps from Crafts and Me. Love their rubber stamps, because they are deeply etched, and the image comes out very clear when stamped. This is my 1st purchase with the company, and definitely NOT my last. I just checked out their site a couple of minutes ago, to find that there are already NEW stamps available. I don't know... I just want them all!! Don't you find yourself wanting all of the stamps that are made available from your favorite stamp company? **sigh** Anyways, I created this card, just to use the image. I colored the image with my Copics. The image is an Elaine Cox stamp. You will find her listed on the Crafts and Me menu, under "Sweet Pea Stamps". I kinda went crazy on the dew drops. I was trying to make them look like seaweed. LOL!! Not sure if I've succeeded in doing so, you tell me... it adds some sparkle to the card, so I kept them there. The doily die cut behind the image is an eClips die cut from the Easter cartridge. I am still getting used to using my eClips machine. Not as well used as my Cricut. But I sure hope that I can use it in more of my upcoming projects as I create. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, which I got from J's Knicknacks on Oahu.

Before I go, I wanted to share a macro image with you. Been playing around with my camera, and PSE, and just wanted to share with what the outcome is. Here is a photo I took of the middle of a pretty yellow Hibiscus...

Well, gotta get back to tending to my 15 yr old. :o) I hope that you n' your family are in good health.

Much Hugs,
Jen

Cricut Fun Challenge #1 - Create a Critter - with FREEBIE Cut Files!!!

Welcome to our Cricut Fun Challenge #1!!! We are so happy that you are here, and we hope you will join us!! Let's get it going... Ali n' I used the list randomizer on Random.org to select the cart and the image (rather page) of the cart's manual to decide on which cart and cut we are challenged to use. This week the cart selected was:

Create a Critter - Pg 43:
Fish, Fish Bowl, Seaweed, Sand n' Water

Here are our samples - please scroll down to read the rules of this challenge....

By Jen....

Hi There! I created my project into a shaped card, using the Design Studio Program. I had this thought in my head that I wanted to make the fish bowl into a card. So I took 2 of the same cuts, lined them up, and welded together. Use the "Hide Contour" to hide some of the contours on the front card, and then my card was ready to decorate.

For the front of the card, I wanted to make it a window type, where you would really be looking into a fish bowl. So I cut the same shaped bowl, but this time cut a circle within it, to make a window. I used acetate to cover, you can see the reflection of it on one of my pictures posted below. The photo with the foam tape shows you how I adhered the front window piece to the card's front panel. I also wanted to make this card for a mommy to be, and thought it would be super cute with a mini-fishy swimming with her mama!! The "Congratulations" sentiment is from MS-All Occasions. Everything else was cut with Create a Critter, and on page 43 of the manual. I sponged the edges of most of the cuts, and ran the fish pieces through my cuttlebug for some embossed texture. FUN!!! I have the cut file available for you to download if you would like to create this same card. I have 2 cuts available - 1 for the Design Studio, and 1 for the Gypsy. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to get to these links.

here is a 3x3 Thank You card that I made using the fish die cut....

By Ali....

Hi There!! Ali here... I am so glad that Jen finally listened to me, and started this Cricut Fun Challenge. It is a great way to motivate and challenge ourselves. My project is also a card, however, I didn't create it on the DS program like Jen did. What I did was, I cut out 2 of the fish bowls, and scored at the top of the fishbowl, which is where I adhered the cards together, and then have it work like a card. Sorry, I don't have a picture of it shown that way. I embossed the seaweed, sponged the edges of the sand, and added stickles and crystal glaze to the bubbles and party hat. The sentiment was computer generated.

Now that you've got to see our samples, we hope that you can join our challenge. Bust out that Create a Critter cartridge, and use that fish die cut, and create without ceasing!!!

Here are the Rules:
  1. Create your project according to the selected theme shown above - you must use at LEAST 3 cuts from the selected page.
  2. Post your project to the web, and link below using the "inlinkz" button.
  3. Please link directly to your blog post and NOT to your blog (so that is makes it easier for us to locate your post n' comment on your creation). :o)
  4. No linking to project(s) posted prior to this challenge date.
  5. Submit only 1 project please.
  6. Feel free to combine challenges.
  7. Please link your project by next Monday, 6 pm Hawaii Time
1 Winner will receive the following prize package:

Here are the links to download Jen's Fishbowl card cut file. Please note: you will need the following to be able to use these cuts: Design Studio program -or- Gypsy, Cricut Machine, Create a Critter cart (MS-All Occasion if you would like to cut the sentiment as well). Enjoy!!

FREEBIE: CD/DVD Envelope Cut File On Design Studio

Aloha! Thank You for stopping by!! Today I have a CD/DVD case that I created on the Design Studio program. I made couple of these cases for the slide show created for my niece's 1st birthday. We made copies of the slide show, as gifts for Great Grand Parents and Grand Parents. I used George and Elegant Edges cartridges for this cut. However, the main CD/DVD case cut was made entirely with George. As Elegant Edges was used just for the design on the front of the case. Therefore, if you would like to download and use this cut file, George cartridge would be sufficient enough. I have both the Design Studio and Gypsy cut file available for download. The links are at the bottom of this post. The letter "K" is not included. ;o)

Thanks for peeking!! Have a blessed Monday n' rest of the week. Don't forget to stop by tomorrow and check out our NEW Cricut Fun ChallengeLink that Ali n' I are hosting together. God Bless!!

Aloha,
Jen

Cricut Fun Challenge - Beginning Next Week.... and 2 Love Cricut Cards

Hey Gang!! So Ali n' I have been brain storming, and have decided to start up a Cricut Fun Challenge beginning next week Tuesday, November 8th, 2011!!! Between the 2 of us, we have a bunch of cartridges that we need to make use of, and we thought that it would be fun to challenge ourselves, and really make use of them. Our Cricut Fun Challenge will happen on every Tuesday. We hope you will join in on the fun. We will have a prize for 1 winner, which we will chose and announce the following Tuesday. So come on by next Tuesday, and see what our 1st challenge is going to be!!!

Moving on to my projects... I have 2 "Love" cards, which were created using my Cricut. These are over sized cards, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 which is just an 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock folded in half.

These 2 cards are sweet n' simple. Sponged edges, and white pen to accent. That's pretty much it. Thanks for taking the time to stop by n' peek in.

Much Blessings,
Jen

New to me goodies

Good morning everyone!! Today's card features some "new to me" goodies :) First up was the SU Embossing folder Elegant Lines. I just love how "embossed" it looks!

Next, I used the Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs die to frame my image. I cut it twice and offset the two cuts. My image was colored with copics and dabbed with "crystal" Stickles. Then I swabbed the edges with barely banana and a light brown SU chalk.

Finally, I layered my sentiment with the SU scalloped oval punch and repeated the same chalking around the edges. I can't believe it has taken me this long to finally buy that punch!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Blessings,
Ali
Card info:
Cardstock: SU Pretty in pink, chocolate chip, crumbcake
Ink: Ranger Archival Ink, Copics, SU chalks
Tools: Spellbinders Floral Doily motifs, circles, SU Bird builder punch, Scalloped oval, oval punches

Oh Praise HIM!! My song choice for Faith Song for His Glory Blog

Aloha & Welcome!! I am the Guest DT today over at the "Faith Song For His Glory" blog. I created 2 cards using silhouette images of a little boy a little girl. I converted them to SVG's and cut them on my Cricut using SCAL. The song that I've chosen this time around is "Oh Praise Him". To Praise God is to give HIM all the Glory for everything that is going on around you and in your life. When you Praise Him, you are thanking Him, and even in hard times, you are praising Him that He has a plan for you, and that the outcome may not be something that you like, or it may be very well something you like, but whichever the case, the Lord has His plans and doesn't need to explain Himself at all.

Prayer is an important part of Praising the Lord. It is when you are talking with Him and spending time with Him. There is a lot of Praising that goes on in my prayers. Therefore, I made these cards for that very reason. For someone might need prayer, or a "Thinking of You" card, and these images reminds me of how it is so important to always Praise the Lord. If you haven't taken the time today to Praise Him, go ahead.... start with the little things... Thank Him for allowing you to be here, with your family n' friends....

Here is a video to the song I've chosen for today's post:

Here are the lyrics to this song:

OH PRAISE HIM:

Turn your ear
To Heaven and hear
The noise inside
The sound of angels awe
The sound of angels' songs
And all this for a King
We could join and sing
'All to Christ our King!'

How constant
How divine
This song of ours will rise
Oh, how constant
How divine
This love of ours will rise
Will rise...

CHORUS:
Ohh praise Him!
Ohh praise Him!
He is Holy!
He is Holy!

Turn your gaze
To Heaven and raise
A joyous noise
Oh the sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones
And all this for a king
Angels join to sing
'All for Christ our King!'

May you have a blessed day today and throughout the week. I pray a heaping of blessing upon you and your family!

Much Hugs n' Aloha,
Jen
