Candy/Money Lei

G'Morning Thursday, Friends!!! I made one more lei, which is part candy part money. I made it for a sister in Christ that graduated this past weekend. Pretty much the same way I did the candy lei, but added money in between. ;o) This was my 1st attempt at making the money part. I had a lot of fun, and I hope to learn how to make other money folds to incorporate on future money leis. Here are images....

I fan folded 2 dollars, and connected them with glue, added silver cord to tie the middle.

I then adhered some flowers and leaves to the middle of each flower.... these are All Natural Accents flowers and leave, that can be purchased and found at Little C's....

Close up of what each one looked like, I've added some stickles to the flowers for added shine.

Completed Lei.... with photo and tag, just like the previous candy lei that I posted. School colors were black, silver and teal... I use organdy ribbon and just let it dangle.

Close up of tag I put on the lei.... I created the tag on SCUT. You can find the download here.

Thanks for stopping by n' taking a peek. Thank you also for your comments!! I really enjoy reading them all!!!

Aloha, Jen

20 Hawaiian Candy Lei Order and FREE SCUT File

Good Morning Wednesday!!! I hope your day is going well so far!!! I have been quite busy with several orders that the Lord has blessed me with. Especially with this 1 order of 20 Candy Leis for a high school friend of mines, who moved to the mainland and wanted some Local Candy Leis to be part of her son's graduation. Well, at first, I must admit, I was just going to cheat, and buy the already made leis at WalMart then spoof them up with pretty ribbon. And I told her so. But when I checked out the leis, ugh.... I wasn't completely satisfied with the way it looked, and just how it wasn't "full" enough. I also wanted more local kine candies (macadamia nut, lihing plum, and even mochi) type of candies, which weren't in these already made leis. So anyways... here are pics of these leis I've created.

This is how 1 completed lei looks like. I've added a tag, with the graduates photo, school name and graduating year... for the tag, I really like the Stampin' Up!'s Two Tags Die (115954), but I didn't have that die on hand. So I decided on creating one to cut on my Cricut, using the SCAL program. Scroll down to see and download this cut file. FYI: You must have a Cricut and the SCAL program to cut this file.

Close up of the tag. I used the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874) to punch out the image. Then I created the tag to be able to layer this punch on it.

Here is how the cut files come.... this is the 1st layer on sheet #1....

Sheet #2 has the 2nd layer (in black), which goes right on top of the 1st cut out.

Bunch of lei's stacked on each other....

I thank the Lord for this order. The opportunity to create and make these lei's was a blessing. I was able to bless someone else with the talent that the Lord has blessed me with.

Have a blessed day in the Lord!!! Aloha, Jen

Prayer Request 5/25/2011

Good Morning Wednesday....

Just wanted to put out some prayer requests for our prayer warriors out there. Thank You for your continued prayers!! The Lord is amazing and is full of wonderful things. Sometimes things might go the way we don't hope it to, but the Lord knows what is best for us, and has a plan for each n' every one of us. So keep those prayers coming and cry out to him. Here are the prayers for this week.....

  • Please pray for Barbara Jacobs. She has been in the hospital for over a week with heart problems (among other things) and the prognosis isn't very promising. Pray for comfort on both her and her family. Calmness within hearts, and patience for everyone involved. For doctors that will be caring, and with wisdom as to what it is they need to do with Barbara.
  • Pray for the lost lambs of Hale Ho'omalu.
  • Pray for me (Jen), that I can remain focused on the Lord, and do things that are glorifying unto Him, and not man!
  • Pray for the people of Missouri affected by the Joplin tornado.
Thank U! Have a blessed day in the Lord!!!!

Prayer Request: May 15, 2011

Good Morning Sunday, Gang!! I am posting another Prayer Request, because an email came out to me 2 days ago requesting for prayer. So I am sharing with you here. Please join me in prayer for the following....

One of our kids (I'm a teacher....and we commonly refer to our students as our kids, especially the ones that touch our hearts) has been sick for some time now and they haven't been about to find out what's wrong with her. Tonight we received a call saying that she has leukemia. She's a junior in hs, has two little brothers and she is the most beautiful girl both inside and out. The greatest thing about Kierstynn is that she walks her faith and rarely, if ever, gets caught up in the nonsense that many of us remember in high school. She is a special girl...so this has hit many of us very hard. Any prayers for Kierstynn, her family, friends and community would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your willingness to help us pray for her.
God Bless,
Nicole

Thank you for taking the time to pray!! God Bless n' Have an awesome day in the Lord!!

Get Well Cards

Good Morning Thursday, Gang!! Hope your week is going well... Today I have a couple of "Get Well" cards...

This one was colored and created by my gf's 11 year old daughter, Maria.... she did a real great job coloring and then cutting it out so neatly, didn't she???? The image is a Dustin Pike image. She will be giving this card to her grandma, who recently got out of the hospital.

This one is one that I made. I had the image colored awhile ago, and thought I'd just put a card together, because I didn't want the image to go to waste. I believe this image is a Whipper Snapper image. Nothing smancy.... real sweet n' simple! Buttons add a little flare, but not too much to make it fall over.

Sorry so short... gotta run, got my day to start. Ok, may you have a blessed day today!!

Big Hugs,
Jen

Homemade Baby Gift Basket

Good Morning Wednesday, Peeps!!! Other than paper crafting, I like creating other crafty items. Whenever there is a chance to enhance the look of a gift, I am all for it. My girlfriend came over to my house and told me that she had to go shopping for her hubby, because he had a co-worker at work celebrating the birth of their child. He was supposed to go shopping for the entire office, instead it turns out to be a task for her to do. I told her, "let's make the gift into a baby basket"... and off to shopping we went. Oh how fun it was to purchase yummies for babies. The basket n' cellophane wrapping wasn't much, so it didn't take away from the money that was supposed to go to the gifts. We got home, and I immediately went to work and put this baby together. Here's how it turned out.....

The entire bottom of the basket was filled with diapers and wipes, so instead of using paper stuffing, we utilized the space efficiently. :o) My girlfriend's hubby was surprised to see a basket made gift, he thought that she had purchased it going over the budget. His co-worker's were thrilled that he came in with such a cute yummy-filled basket. I even threw in a free card for all of them to sign and to give to it's receiver.

It was a joy and a blessing for me to share a little bit of love n' joy through my creativity with these friends. So thrilled that they loved it!!

Have a blessed Wednesday!!
Blessings,
Jen

P.S. >>> Please scroll down to the previous post, and join me in prayer for those that have requested prayer... God Bless!!

Prayer Request - Wednesday 5/11/11

It has been awhile since I've posted a Prayer Request post... I have a couple of Prayers that are being requested, and thought that it would be a nice way to start today's blog posting with it. Please take some time to pray for these brothers and sisters, who have asked us so kindly to stand together with them in prayer.... if you have anything that you would like us to pray for, click on over to the Prayer Request page, and you can post your prayer request in the comment post there. Aloha and Agape!!

  • My husband is a pastor and is doing a wedding in Africa this summer. We have the opportunity to bring our 3 and 5 year old with us but we need the finances to do so. Being a couple with such young children, we would prefer to bring them with us instead of having them more than halfway around the world away from us for 2 weeks. We would appreciate your prayers that God will come through for us with the provisions to bring our kids with us.
  • My daughter needs prayer for her spiritually – first, mental and physical life. She’s searching but not finding what she’s searching for. Of course, we know, without God at the top of her list, she’s not going to be happy. Please help me pray for her.
  • My friend is battling breast cancer, a very vigorous type of cancer. Please pray that HIS healing hands will be upon her. That her family is in comfort and that the hearts of everyone involved, and affected are calmed throughout out the weeks of treatments. Please pray that the doctors that are caring for her are guided with the Lord's wisdom and strength.
  • A sister at our church is battling cancer. Please pray for her family and healing over her body.
Here are prayers requested from juveniles that are currently incarcerated, which is a ministry I am part of:

  • Royce – that he would do well in the program he’s being sent to.
  • Malik – that he would leave the juvenile home soon.
  • Jerico – for his family (they are struggling), for his friends and enemies.
  • Tony – for his friends & family, that the Lord would lead him to the “right path”, his court date (not specified).
  • Makario – that he would go home soon and for his family. Also that he would be able to play together with his brothers.
  • Donald – for his girlfriend who is in the hospital…she’s due any time now and has high blood pressure.
  • Jordan – for his family, friends, his girlfriend and her family.
  • Kamron – for himself and his family.
  • Jake – that his family would be happy, that he would get out soon and go back home.
  • Max – for his mom & girlfriend to be safe, for himself and that the Lord would give him the strength and
  • desire to change.
  • Blane – for his family.
  • Kingston – that he could go back home soon.
  • Michael – for his family & friends, his court date (5-25-11), that he would be able to be under house arrest instead of staying in the juvenile home and that he would live a better life so he can be free. Also that he would in turn stop doing bad things and start doing good things and for his aunty Elsie’s family (she recently passed
    away).
  • Kuman – that his ex-girlfriend would give him another chance, that his family and friends would be safe.
  • Kiuna – that he would be able to go to a better home (his aunty’s house).
  • Johnnie – blessings for his family, that he would “get out but give me the discipline” he deserves
  • Roger – that he would be successful.
  • Kaina – for his family and the whole “west side”.
  • Lillian – for motivation (to do her apology letters and essay) for court, and for her boyfriend to be safe & realize his wrong doings.
  • Amanda – to go home soon.
  • Lehua – that she would get accepted to drug court, that she and her grandma would work their differences out, that grandma would forgive her & love her again, for her court date (5-12-11) and that she doesn’t have to go to HYCF. Also that her nephew is healthy, that her boyfriend is doing good and is happy.
  • Jasmine – for her court date, for her grandma and papa who are having a hard time, that they could be a family again. Also that she would do good.
  • Tiffany – for her court date (5-18-11), that she would be able to go home, that she would do better, stop her bad habits, that she would reconnect with God and that the Lord would give her help, support and strength to make it through these tough times. Also that she would make wise choices and not get caught up with the same things and people.
  • Jasmine S – that she would get out soon, for her grandparents, her boyfriend, her court date (5-12-11) and that she would get back on the right path. Also for her grandma and mom to have a good mothers day
  • Rosalia – for her family, her court date (5-12-11), for herself and her life.
  • Catherine – that her mom would be a better mom, that court would go well (6-21-11), that her boyfriend would do good, for Kingston, Donald & Max, for her best friends to do good and that things would change at home. Also for her family, that the time she spends in the program would go by fast, that she wouldn’t run away from the program, that those in the juvenile home would do good & make positive changes in their lives, for her best friend & her family, and for Jerico who has a difficult time with some of the boys in the juvenile home.
  • Kayla – that court would go well (5-09-11), that she would get to go home, that she would never return to the juvenile home and for those with cancer to live long and strong. Also that her mom would have a good mothers day.
  • Lei’ahi – that she would go home (not a foster home), for her mom who is backsliding (that she would be the same Christian lady she was).
  • Please also pray for Jon & Princeton. They didn’t have any prayer requests.
Thank You for your prayers... remember, we can pray for you too!! Send me an email or leave a comment at the Prayer Request link posted above.

God Bless!
~Jen~

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
